Driving Traffic To Web Site
If you're a new internet marketer or just a new webmaster, the idea of driving traffic to a website can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many questions you need answered. How much traffic do you want? How much traffic is a reasonable goal? Should I hire a professional consultant to walk me through the process? Which methods should I use? How long before I get results? Where Do I start? As you can see, overwhelming. However, there is a great way to rid yourself of that feeling and get started on the right path. That "great way" isn't a 5 part course or a $500 seminar, it's reading a few simple traffic tips.
Tip #1
A large road block for many new comers is the fear of failing, as well as the fear of critizement. You simply can't be afraid of people disliking your site. Some people will dislike it and some people will love it; that's just how it is. The sooner you accept that, the better off your website, and your traffic, will be.
Remeber: If you get hung up on the "possibilities", you will never be able to reap the rewards of the "realities". With that being said, just get your site started and start promoting it any way you can; don't think negative. (This tip is more of a guideline.)
Tip #2
Label yourself as an expert and prove it in forums. There are forums about virtually every subject known to man, so all you have to do is find one or two related to your site and start posting. Express your opinion and solve problems for the other members. Suggest viable solutions and offer helpful advice for free. After awhile, the members will warm up to you and see you as one of their own. When that happens, you won't have trouble getting them to talk with you, listen to your opinions, and of course, visit your website. Don't forget, always add a signature file when you make posts; you'd be surprised how effective that can really be.
Tip #3
Become an expert author. No, you don't have to write a book, you just have to write articles. Writing articles and submitting them to article directories, or better known as article marketing, is a terrific way to generate traffic. Writing about the topic of your choice should be easy because you're an expert, right?
In that case, right 10-20 articles covering a multitude of different things on the topic and then submit them to a few directories; such as ezinearticles.com, articledashboard.com, or goarticles.com. But, no matter which directory(s) you decide to submit to, make sure you have an eye catching bio/resource box. Otherwise, you won't get any traffic out of the articles. Article marketing can take some time to master, but once you have got it down, the free traffic will roll in by the ton.
Tip #4
Pay-per-click campaigns aren't as scary as some people think. As a matter of fact, they are quite easy to manage and it's one of the most powerful methods of traffic generation. It may be easy to manage, but it isn't so simple to get started; hence, the reason people think it is scary.
In order to have a successful pay-per-click campaign, with Google Adwords for instance, you need to know what keywords to target and know how to manage your budget. After all, if you are spending top dollar for clicks, yet getting nothing from your visitors, you're wasting lots of money. There are tons of guides out there, but the best way to get results is just to get started. You won't nail it on the first try, so don't blame yourself. It can take a long time before you balance out the spend-to-earn ratio.
Educate yourself, test different campaigns, and track your progress.
Tip #5
Have unique content! Is is the golden tip and the golden rule. It's website creation 101: Without quality, unique content, your website traffic won't sustain itself. Updating your website with fresh content will help out huge in your traffic driving efforts. Not only will your visitors like the content, but the search engines will too and your ranking will improve because of it. As long as your website is viewed as fresh unique, you won't have a problem generating free traffic hits.
